Relax, Rest, Re-energize
Always remember that at times you may feel exhausted, have a mind block, or feel like you are doing a lot and not getting what you desire. It is totally normal, work will pile up, you will have pending work, and have many other ideas that you may want to implement. However, it is totally okay to relax, meditate, and just re-energize. I know this might be out of topic, but we all need this.
For starters, learn to always meditate whenever you feel exhausted in some way. It might just be a simple meditation. Just sit in a comfortable position, while either closing your eyes or with your eyes open just concentrate on your breathing. Note your breathing cycle, nice and slow! In order not to lose focus, you might as well count the number of times you breathe in and out. It will help, you can put a timer on, and you can start with two minutes, move to three minutes, four minutes, and 5, and at the end, you will even manage 10 minutes. Hurray!!! However, during that period, don’t think about anything, just your breathing, your mind needs to be clear. Don’t drift away from any form of thoughts.
Apart from that, you also need to exercise, you know how much time you use while trying to develop something, to code something, to learn a new skill, to finish up a task, name it… The funny thing is that we often want to finish up a task at a prescribed time so that we can move forward to the next, which is totally okay. However, hold on, relax a little bit. Even just moving from your seat and walking a few steps is good exercise, even if it means walking around and then coming back. This is beneficial as it helps break the monotony of just being there at the same spot for a long period of time. When you get enough time, have a daily routine of exercises that you perform each day, and you will definitely note the difference. 🙂
Next up, if you are a writer, I’d suggest you install typing master. It comes with a typing meter that is really essential. For starters, by using it you can learn how to type fast without looking at your fingers. Secondly, it has a typing meter that you can set to remind you after 30 mins, 1 hour, 1 and a half hours, 2 hours, and so on to do a simple exercise to relax. It will make you realize how fast time is moving, yet you’ve been on the screen all through.
Always have a notebook with you at all times, in order to write new ideas that pop in or when you have some to-dos you may want to jot down. After accomplishing each milestone always remember to tick to acknowledge that you are through with it. It always makes one feel fulfilled at all times, having finished something. Always remember not to be too hard on yourself, it’s never that serious.
Before I forget, eye issue is a major challenge to people who work on the screens. In no time you may note that your eyes are hurting, you can’t see far, or you can’t see near clearly. Well, this doesn’t happen to everyone, but some people. You don’t have to worry, learn how to stare at a distance after looking at the screen for a while. This will help you not to fall sick of myopia/shortsightedness because of focusing your eyes on near objects for too long. When you decide to perform the short exercise, stare also at a distance far away to ensure your eye muscles also exercise. You should also find out more about eye exercises that will be beneficial for your eyes to perform after work/task.
I hope you have learned a thing or two from these, and I hope it will help you. I hope for the best for every developer and writer. Embrace your talent, relax and just do your thing! All the best in your endeavors 🙂
